Refund & Cancellation Policy
At Tampa Bay Pontoon Rentals, we understand that plans change and Florida weather can be unpredictable. This policy explains how cancellations, refunds, rescheduling, weather, late arrivals, early returns, no-shows, and other circumstances are handled.
Unless otherwise stated in your reservation, these terms apply to reservations booked directly with Tampa Bay Pontoon Rentals.
Reservations made through a third-party booking platform may be subject to additional or different cancellation, refund, payment, or rescheduling terms applicable to that specific reservation.
Customer Cancellations
More Than 48 Hours Before Departure
Cancellations made more than 48 hours before the scheduled departure time are eligible for a full refund of eligible amounts paid toward the vessel rental.
24 to 48 Hours Before Departure
Cancellations made between 24 and 48 hours before the scheduled departure time will result in a cancellation charge equal to 50% of the total scheduled rental fee.
Any eligible amount paid in excess of the 50% cancellation charge will be refunded to the original payment method.
Less Than 24 Hours Before Departure
Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the scheduled departure time are non-refundable and the renter is responsible for the full scheduled rental fee.
If Tampa Bay Pontoon Rentals is able to rebook the vessel for substantially the same rental period, we may provide a partial or full future credit at our discretion.
No-Call / No-Show
Failure to arrive for a scheduled reservation without contacting Tampa Bay Pontoon Rentals is considered a no-call/no-show.
No-call/no-show reservations will be charged the full scheduled rental value plus a 20% gratuity.
No-call/no-show reservations are not eligible for a refund or future credit.
Any independently hired captain may have separate cancellation, no-show, or payment terms that are governed by the agreement between the renter and that captain.
Late Arrivals
The rental must still end at the scheduled return time shown on the reservation and rental agreement.
Arriving late does not extend the rental period and does not entitle the renter to a refund or credit for missed rental time.
Please arrive early enough to complete all required paperwork, vessel orientation, and safety briefing.
Voluntary Early Returns
There are no refunds for voluntary early returns.
Once the vessel has departed, choosing to end the rental early does not entitle the renter to a full or prorated refund.
This includes early returns resulting from changes in personal plans, passenger preference, seasickness, fatigue, or weather when Tampa Bay Pontoon Rentals has not canceled or terminated the rental.
Weather Policy
Florida weather can change rapidly. Rain, thunderstorms, wind, or other weather appearing in a forecast does not automatically cancel a rental.
Tampa Bay Pontoon Rentals determines whether its vessel may safely depart based on conditions affecting the rental.
If Tampa Bay Pontoon Rentals Cancels Before Departure
If Tampa Bay Pontoon Rentals determines that conditions are unsafe and cancels the vessel rental before departure, the renter may choose:
- Rescheduling to another available date; or
- A refund of eligible vessel-rental amounts paid directly to Tampa Bay Pontoon Rentals.
If the Customer Cancels Because of Weather
If Tampa Bay Pontoon Rentals has not canceled the rental and the renter independently decides not to depart because of weather concerns, the standard customer cancellation terms apply.
Weather After Departure
There are no refunds for a voluntary early return because of weather when Tampa Bay Pontoon Rentals has not canceled or terminated the rental.
Nothing in this policy requires an operator to continue operating a vessel when the operator reasonably believes immediate conditions are unsafe. If conditions deteriorate, seek safe harbor when necessary and contact Tampa Bay Pontoon Rentals.
Mechanical Problems
If Tampa Bay Pontoon Rentals determines before departure that the assigned vessel is unavailable or not reasonably fit for the rental, we may:
- Provide another available comparable vessel;
- Reschedule the rental; or
- Refund eligible vessel-rental amounts paid directly to Tampa Bay Pontoon Rentals.
If a Company-attributable mechanical problem substantially interrupts a rental after departure, Tampa Bay Pontoon Rentals may provide an appropriate credit, replacement vessel, rescheduling option, or prorated refund depending on the circumstances.
No refund is due for a problem caused by grounding, collision, misuse, unauthorized operation, failure to follow instructions, or another act attributable to the renter, passengers, or persons permitted aboard by the renter.
Rental Agreement Violations
No refund or credit will be issued when a rental is denied or terminated because of:
- Unsafe or reckless operation;
- Impaired operation;
- Unauthorized operators;
- Overloading;
- Prohibited activities;
- Operation outside approved boundaries;
- Material violation of the rental agreement; or
- Violation of applicable law.
The renter remains responsible for applicable damage, fines, recovery expenses, towing, fuel, cleaning, late fees, and other authorized charges.
Operator Eligibility
The renter must be at least 21 years old with a valid driver's license.
All operators must also satisfy applicable Florida boating-safety education requirements and any other applicable rental or legal requirements.
Failure to meet operator requirements may prevent the vessel from departing and does not automatically entitle the renter to a refund.
Fuel
Fuel is not included in the base rental price.
The renter is responsible for paying for fuel used during the rental at the conclusion of the rental.
Fuel charges are separate from the vessel rental price.
Late Returns
A 15-minute grace period is provided after the scheduled return time.
For returns 16 to 30 minutes late, a late fee of $2 per minute applies.
For returns more than 30 minutes late, a $150 late-return fee applies in place of the per-minute late fee.
Applicable late fees may be deducted from an authorized security deposit or charged to the payment method on file.
Animals & Cleaning
Ordinary pets require prior approval.
A maximum of two dogs per vessel is permitted unless otherwise approved.
A $50 non-refundable additional cleaning fee per rental applies when one or more approved pets are brought aboard. The $50 fee is per rental, not per animal.
The renter remains responsible for damage or excessive cleaning caused by an animal beyond ordinary pet related cleaning.
Service Animals
Qualifying service animals are accommodated in accordance with applicable law.
The standard $50 pet-cleaning fee is not automatically charged solely because a renter is accompanied by a qualifying service animal.
The renter remains responsible for actual damage or extraordinary cleaning caused by an animal to the same extent Tampa Bay Pontoon Rentals charges other renters for comparable damage or extraordinary cleaning.
Damage, Cleaning & Other Charges
The renter is responsible for returning the vessel reasonably clean and without new damage.
Damage, loss, theft, grounding, missing equipment, excessive cleaning, fuel, late-return charges, applicable pet-cleaning charges, recovery expenses, and other amounts authorized by the rental agreement may be deducted from an authorized security deposit or charged to the renter's payment method on file.
Cancellation or refund of eligible vessel-rental charges does not eliminate responsibility for separately incurred or authorized charges.
Independently Hired Captains
Tampa Bay Pontoon Rentals provides the vessel as a bareboat charter without captain or crew.
If a renter chooses to use a captain, the renter independently selects and hires that captain at the renter's own expense.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, captain fees are separate from the vessel rental and are paid directly to the captain.
Refunds issued by Tampa Bay Pontoon Rentals apply only to amounts collected by Tampa Bay Pontoon Rentals.
Captain fees, deposits, cancellations, gratuities, refunds, and other arrangements are governed by the separate agreement between the renter and the independently hired captain.
Multi-Boat & Special-Event Reservations
Multi-boat rentals, holidays, special events, and reservations requiring additional coordination may be subject to special cancellation or deposit requirements.
Any special terms applicable to a reservation will be disclosed before booking and/or incorporated into the reservation terms.
Third-Party Reservations
Reservations made through third-party marketplaces or booking platforms may be subject to additional or different cancellation, refund, payment, or rescheduling requirements.
When third-party terms lawfully control a particular reservation, those terms will apply to the applicable payment, cancellation, or refund processed through that platform.
Security Deposits & Payment Authorizations
A payment-card authorization hold is not necessarily a completed charge.
When an authorization hold is released, the time required for the funds or available credit to reappear is determined by the customer's bank, card issuer, or payment processor and is outside Tampa Bay Pontoon Rentals' control.
Authorized charges for damage, fuel, excessive cleaning, late returns, recovery, missing equipment, or other expenses may be processed in accordance with the rental agreement.
Refund Processing
Approved refunds will generally be returned to the original payment method.
Tampa Bay Pontoon Rentals will initiate an approved refund promptly, but additional processing time may be required by the customer's bank, card issuer, booking platform, or payment provider before the funds become available.
Questions, Cancellations or Rescheduling
If you need to cancel or reschedule your reservation, contact Tampa Bay Pontoon Rentals as soon as possible.
The earlier you contact us, the more opportunity we may have to assist with rescheduling or other available options.
